Leading Australian insurance sector law firm Gilchrist Connell has promoted Adriana Reina, Julian Peake, Christopher Harrison, Jade Wishart and Richard Scougall to Principal, effective 1 July 2026.

The appointments reflect the calibre of legal talent Gilchrist Connell continues to develop from within its national practice, recognising five lawyers who have distinguished themselves through sustained excellence, commercial acumen and trusted client relationships.

Adriana Reina (Sydney) advises employers on employment, workplace relations, work health and safety and migration law, and is also trusted by insurers on EPL and WHS matters. She works closely with boards, executives and HR teams on complex litigation, investigations and organisational change, earning a strong reputation for strategic, commercially grounded counsel.

Julian Peake (Sydney) is a building and construction expert, practising in all types of construction disputes and insurance matters, with a particular focus on complex infrastructure issues and multi-party litigation. His technical precision and strategic acuity make him a trusted adviser to insurers and insureds across multiple policy lines.

Christopher Harrison (Sydney) has broad experience across personal injury and property damage claims, acting for insurers, self-insureds and corporations in Australia and overseas. He is particularly valued for his work on sensitive and complex matters, including historical abuse claims and large-scale litigation, and for bringing a hands-on, strategic approach with clear, commercially focused advice.

Jade Wishart (Perth) brings deep experience across professional indemnity, financial lines and casualty matters, acting on complex claims for insurers and insureds spanning a wide range of professions and industries. She is known for her pragmatic, proactive approach to claims management and her ability to drive efficient resolutions with strong commercial outcomes.

Richard Scougall (Melbourne) advises employers and insurers on complex employment, industrial relations and work health and safety matters, with particular strength in disputes, investigations and regulatory proceedings. He is known for his steady, strategic counsel on high-risk workplace issues and for working closely with clients to navigate sensitive matters with confidence and clarity.
