Gilchrist Connell announce four new Special Counsel and further strengthens ranks
Gilchrist Connell, a leading Australian insurance sector law firm, is pleased to announce the addition of four new special counsel: Shonagh Rasmussen, Mary Kinna, Erica Dobson and Kristina Nehme.
Joining our insurance team, Shonagh Rasmussen, brings extensive experience in financial lines insurance, regulatory, and commercial litigation matters. Mary Kinna complements our expertise in public liability and property damage claims, including complex multi-party disputes. Erica Dobson offers our national health team the benefit of her extensive experience in medical negligence and health law, as well expertise advising on complex personal injury and life insurance claims. Kristina Nehme brings corporate and commercial advisory, regulatory and restructuring expertise. She advises a broad range of clients including insurers, reinsurers, brokers and intermediaries, and legacy entities on mergers & acquisitions, disposals and restructurings, reinsurance arrangements, and on all aspects of the Australian regulatory regime. This addition follows the recent arrival of Senior Associate, Ashleigh Perriman in the Corporate, Regulatory & Insurtech team.

Additionally, we welcome two new Senior Associates, Bryce Stevens (Brisbane) and Josiah Lee (Melbourne), and a further six Associates: Shayma Sorefan (Sydney), Katie Kyung (Sydney), Hamish England (Brisbane), James Taylor (Brisbane), and Adam Elbanna (Sydney). Lily Connell (Melbourne) has rejoined the firm as an Associate.
This announcement follows the promotion of 13 legal practitioners in July 2024, to which we are pleased to add Debra Crossley (Perth), who was promoted to Associate upon her return from leave.
