Tiarn has extensive experience acting for insurers, underwriting agencies and corporate entities across Australia in financial lines matters, subrogated recoveries and property claims.
Tiarn’s financial lines practice is focussed on defending claims against professionals, including solicitors, accountants, auditors, directors, and construction professionals. She has been involved in the defence of several significant and complex professional indemnity matters, including in the NSW Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of NSW and Federal Court of Australia.
Her property and recoveries practice is focused on industrial special risks claims, fraud and fidelity claims, first party property matters and third party claims involving property damage. She has also managed several recoveries projects for insurers, often involving both insured and uninsured losses, and is able to effectively manage the often competing interests that arise.
The scope of her experience comes from working in law firms and in-house at a major insurer and includes advising on coverage issues across a range of policies (including directors’ and officers’ liability, management liability, professional indemnity, material damage and ISR products). She has a strong network of claims professionals, underwriters, brokers, experts and internal dispute resolution processionals, which enables her to deliver highly effective assistance to insureds and brokers in responding to claims.
Tiarn has efficiently and autonomously handled key responsibilities since early in her career. She previously managed a team of lawyers and recoveries specialists, which complemented loss adjusters, forensic accountants and factual investigators to offer an end to end service to clients and involved co-ordination of numerous professionals to achieve results.
Tiarn takes a pragmatic and commercial approach to her matters and is often complimented for her direct and down to earth manner.
Tiarn was recognised by her peers in Best Lawyers for her work in ‘Insurance Law’ in 2024, and was previously recognised in Best Lawyers ‘Ones to Watch’ category for insurance law 2023.
