
As Special Counsel, Shehan provides strategic advice and representation in professional indemnity claims and disputes. He advises and represents a broad range of insureds and their insurers in both litigated and pre-action matters, including those involving real estate agents, insurance and mortgage brokers, accountants and auditors, solicitors, environmental consultants, engineers, architects and construction professionals. He has also acted for domestic and international insurers in complex coverage and indemnity disputes, including significant business interruption matters arising from COVID-19. His approach is efficient and pragmatic, delivering strong results for clients throughout the disputes process.
Before joining Gilchrist Connell, Shehan practised as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand. His work focused on complex material damage claims arising from the Canterbury and Kaikoura earthquakes, as well as general and statutory liability, professional indemnity, and commercial disputes.
