Leah Watt is a Principal in Gilchrist Connell’s Corporate & Regulatory practice, advising clients on complex regulatory, governance and risk matters.

Leah brings almost two decades of experience across financial services regulation, funds management and governance in Australia and the UK, with expertise highly relevant to insurers, underwriters and insurance‑related businesses operating in complex regulatory environments.

She advises across regulatory reform, product governance and disclosure, AML and CTF frameworks, privacy and data obligations, incident and breach management, regulatory response, and enterprise governance and risk. Leah has extensive experience engaging with regulators including ASIC, APRA, OAIC, Treasury and international regulatory bodies, and is well‑versed in prudential frameworks such as CPS 230 and CPS 234.

Leah supports clients across the full regulatory lifecycle, including product development and distribution obligations, breach reporting and remediation, and governance and compliance uplift. She also brings strong front‑end corporate and regulatory capability, advising on contract development and review, licensing and regulatory structuring, and governance arrangements.

Her experience in privacy, data and incident management is particularly relevant to organisations managing cyber risk and regulatory notifications, and supports regtech and insurtech‑related work. Leah also has international experience assisting US‑based companies entering regulated overseas markets.
