Jacob has worked exclusively in insurance litigation since his admission in 2012, practicing in both South Australia and Queensland. In addition to his focus areas of professional indemnity and injury liability, as a member of Gilchrist Connell’s Employment Practices/ Management Liability practice team, Jacob has considerable experience in workplace relations, safety law, litigated employment disputes and management and governance liability.
Jacob is also experienced in handling professional indemnity claims for engineers and builders, and in defending product, defective workmanship and large scale public infrastructure damage claims for construction clients.
Jacob has experience litigating claims for both insured and non-insured clients across a range of State and Federal jurisdictions, including achieving commercial negotiated resolutions through formal and informal means of dispute resolution. Jacob is known for understanding his client’s needs and providing accessible and efficient advice directed towards client and matter specific outcomes.
In addition to his practice with Gilchrist Connell Jacob has worked with the University of Adelaide since 2016 presenting lectures to law students, judging student advocacy competitions and grading student assignments. In his own time Jacob has volunteered regularly with community legal centres in both South Australia and Queensland, sat on the Board of a non-for-profit disability service provider, and acted as a Deputy Commissioner for Hockey South Australia.
