New Senior Appointments at Gilchrist Connell

In a busy hiring period, Gilchrist Connell is delighted to announce a number of new, senior appointments which expand the firm’s national capabilities to deliver general insurance and defendant-side dispute resolution.

Special Counsel Ninwe Younan brings a powerhouse of dispute resolution experience, with particular expertise in defending very large and complex litigation – including complex D&O and class action work.

Nin has represented insurers and corporate clients, and their directors, across multiple industries including agriculture and forestry, mining, health, engineering, manufacturing and transport.  She also acts for a range of businesses in relation to contractual claims, disputes regarding terms of trade, investigations, recovery matters and employment related claims.

The firm has also appointed two new Senior Associates – Hannah Griffiths and Zoë Cunich.  Hannah brings high level qualifications and expertise in insolvency litigation and restructuring expertise, while Zoë’s practice spans insurance, commercial litigation and dispute resolution.

Earlier in the year Senior Associate Sarah Tehan commenced at the firm, completing the new Melbourne-based liability team which has hit the ground running since starting at Gilchrist Connell in late 2018.

Managing Principal Richard Wood said, “These highly talented people take our team to over 75 lawyers – all dedicated to general insurance and defendant-side dispute resolution. We are one of the largest specialised groups in the country in that regard.”

“We’ve tripled in size since launching GC in 2008 and continue to be gratified that senior solicitors of this calibre are attracted by our values, culture, approach and opportunities – especially as the competition for good people is much greater now,” said Richard.

Gilchrist Connell is internationally networked with The Harmonie Group, and consistently achieves prominent recognition across multiple platforms including Best Lawyers, Doyle’s Guide, national awards programs and Chambers Asia Pacific.
