Gilchrist Connell welcomes Emmeline McIllree as new Chief People Officer
Sydney, 29 May 2025 - Leading Australian insurance sector law firm, Gilchrist Connell, is delighted to announce the appointment of Emmeline McIllree as its new Chief People Officer, effective immediately.
Emmeline joins the firm with a distinguished background in human resources and executive leadership, most recently serving as Talent Director at a one of the big four consulting firms. Her career spans several high-profile people & culture related roles across prominent organisations, where she has consistently driven strategic people initiatives and fostered high-performing workplace cultures.
“Emmeline brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of what it takes to build and sustain a thriving organisation that keeps its clients and its people at the heart of everything it does,” said Belinda Cohen, outgoing Chief People Officer and incoming Chief Executive Officer. “Her leadership style and values are a perfect match for Gilchrist Connell, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the team.”
Emmeline steps into the role as Belinda Cohen prepares to take on the position of Chief Executive Officer from 1 July 2025. Belinda, a former insurance litigation lawyer with a strong track record in executive leadership, has served as Gilchrist Connell’s Chief People Officer for the past four years.
To ensure a seamless transition, Emmeline and Belinda will work closely together through to the end of June.
