Gilchrist Connell – Now open in Melbourne

Gilchrist Connell Melbourne is open for business!

This is office number four for the specialist insurance law firm – joining Sydney, Adelaide and Perth – and further consolidates the firm’s national presence.

The June opening marks Gilchrist Connell’s sixth anniversary since it was launched, and coincides with several new senior staff appointments in all offices.

“It’s an exciting development to now have Melbourne on board. We’re thrilled that Sampath Soysa will head the office as Principal. He’s a highly experienced specialist  in Australian and New Zealand insurance law and is very well regarded by the insurance industry. Most importantly of all, he fits our business and firm culture very well,” said Managing Principal Richard Wood.

“Our larger clients have indicated that they would like us to have a presence in as many major centres as possible so with offices now in four states, and new senior recruits across the board, we are listening to that message and growing into our clients’ demands,” he said.

Sampath is also the founder and current president of Young Insurance Professions (YIPs), Australia and New Zealand, which has grown to over 3,000 members under his leadership and leading him to also be recently ranked as being one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Insurance (source: Insurance Business magazine).
