Gilchrist Connell – ‘Controlled Explosion’ Growth and Principal Promotions

Leading insurance sector law firm Gilchrist Connell has substantially boosted its leadership team with the promotion of five highly talented lawyers to Principal, effective July 2021.  These promotions raise the proportion of females at Principal level to more than 30%, and expand the firm’s leadership in line with its rapid growth over recent months – a net increase in headcount of over 30% since December 2020.

This ‘controlled explosion’ expansion, across all practice areas and all offices, has positioned the firm to effectively respond to surging client demand, generated by an increase in major claims and the impact of challenging business conditions during and post-Covid.

As part of this substantial growth dynamic, the firm has recognised standout performances in practice development and client service by promoting five highly deserving individuals, including three female lawyers, effective early FY 2022 in Sydney and Adelaide.

“These new promotions are an exciting development for our teams, boosting leadership in key and specialist practice areas including medical malpractice, cyber and IT, insolvency and restructuring, construction and EPL,” said Managing Principal Richard Wood.
