Stephen has practised in insurance law for more than 35 years, advising insurers, underwriting agencies, mutual schemes and brokers on claims, policy wording, and indemnity issues.
Stephen efficiently handles liability matters ranging from occupiers liability and products liability to medical malpractice matters. His key clients include major insurers and Australia’s retail giants.
In property matters, Stephen has acted in large complex cases including major flood litigation, construction and business interruption matters. He has acted on instructions from many insurers, provides coverage advice and manages both defence and recovery litigation.
In financial lines, Stephen has managed major D&O, professional indemnity, insolvency, accounting and financial advice cases for insurers, mutual schemes and brokers.
Stephen’s accident and health and life insurance claims experience includes acting in death, disability and income protection cases for more than 20 years. He has also acted for public hospitals and health units in medical malpractice suits and coronial hearings.
Stephen has appeared as counsel in State Supreme, District and Local courts, the Federal Court and the High Court; and he is a former President of the Law Society of South Australia.
